Greece: Peloponnesus, April 26 - May 4, 2025
Spend 8 days exploring the magical Peloponnesus of Southern Greece. This area is rich with world-class limestone sport climbing, friendly and gracious locals, endless sunshine, pristine beaches, mouth watering olive oil and wine, and, of-course, the Greek diet. Touring the Peloponnesus is sure to revitalize you with the best climbing, food, and hospitality.
Details:
Location: Beginning and ending in Athens. Touring the Nemea region and the lovely seaside village of Kyparissi and surrounding attractions (see map below)
Climbing: Well-bolted limestone sport climbing primarily in the 5.10 - 5.12+ range. An emphasis will be placed on leading, although top-roping will be available. Some of the best climbing on the planet in this difficulty range exists in this area.
Wine: this tour will visit the mountainous Nemea region, Greece’s most important for the production of deep reds. Additionally, we’ll visit the Monemvasia Winery, makers of the unique Malvasia varietal, as well as some highly underrated whites.
Food: there’s not much we can say about the Greek diet, other than we think it’s the best! Taste the freshness, the flavors, and the simplicity! Learn how to make food using traditional methods. This tour will sample the abundance that Greece has to offer. Vegetarians are welcomed and encouraged! All dinners will be included with trip price. Other meals and snacks will be available at local taverns or grocery as needed.
Beaches: we don’t want to give away too much here, but the crystal clear sea water and smooth pebble beaches will make it very difficult to leave.
Accommodations: simple yet elegant traditional stone house apartments. Shared or single-occupancy is available.
Ages: 21 and up
Minimum ability: must be confident leading a minimum of 5.10 on gym routes. Some experience on rock is preferred. Our extensive mentorship and coaching experience will help nurture your performance aspirations. Participants will be expected to lead - top-roping will only be available in specific situations.
Price: $3250 for double/triple occupancy accommodation; $3750 for single occupancy accommodation. Includes all on-ground transportation, guiding, accommodation, and dinners. Price will go up $500 on March 1.
Sign up with a friend and receive $100 discount each (up to 4 friends total will receive the discount).
Equipment needed: it will be required to arrive with a 60-70m rope and 15 quickdraws; helmet; harness, shoes, and personal equipment; and appropriate travel gear and clothing.
Tour guides/mentors: this tour will be led by alpha mentor and climbing coach Robyn Ragins, who has climbed all over the world and loves to share her passion and enthusiasm. alpha climbing owner Aaron Hjelt, who has spent nearly 9 months over 8 trips to the region, will assist with logistics and coaching.
